Monitoring, alignment, and spinal health for adolescents and adults with scoliosis. Corrective chiropractic — not just observation.
Scoliosis is an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine that affects roughly 3% of the population. It can develop during adolescence, progress into adulthood, or emerge later in life due to degenerative changes. The traditional medical approach is often “watch and wait” — monitoring the curve but doing little to correct it until surgery becomes the conversation.
At Touch of Life, we take a different approach. Drs. Ed & Sandie believe in proactive, corrective care that addresses spinal alignment, muscular imbalances, and nervous system function. Whether you’re a teenager just diagnosed or an adult who’s lived with scoliosis for decades, there are options beyond waiting and surgery.

One shoulder or hip sitting higher than the other, visible in the mirror or noticed by a parent, coach, or physician.
Persistent or recurring back pain, especially in the mid-back or lower back, that worsens with prolonged sitting or standing.
Visible postural shifts — leaning to one side, a prominent shoulder blade, or an asymmetric waistline.
The muscles surrounding a scoliotic curve work harder to compensate, leading to chronic fatigue and muscular tension.

Our scoliosis care begins with a thorough evaluation — consultation, postural analysis, examination, and full-spine X-rays — to understand the type, severity, and progression of your curve. From there, we build a corrective care plan designed to improve alignment, reduce symptoms, and slow or halt progression.
We combine chiropractic adjustments with targeted rehabilitation exercises and ongoing monitoring. Regular re-evaluation ensures your care plan evolves as your spine responds. Our goal is function, stability, and quality of life — not just managing a diagnosis.

Dr. Ed McCuiston III, D.C. has extensive experience in corrective spinal care, including scoliosis management for adolescents and adults. His approach focuses on structural correction and long-term spinal health.
Chiropractic care can significantly improve spinal alignment, reduce pain, and slow or halt the progression of scoliotic curves. While it may not fully reverse a structural curve, corrective care consistently improves function, posture, and quality of life — especially when started early.
No. We treat scoliosis in adolescents, adults, and seniors. Early intervention in adolescents offers the best opportunity for curve management, but adults with scoliosis also benefit significantly from corrective care to reduce pain, improve posture, and prevent further progression.
Frequency depends on the severity and type of your scoliosis. During the initial corrective phase, visits are more frequent. As your spine stabilizes and responds to care, we gradually reduce visit frequency. Dr. Ed will outline a clear care plan after your evaluation and X-rays.
Absolutely. Chiropractic care complements bracing by addressing the muscular and neurological components that bracing alone cannot. Many of our adolescent patients use both approaches together for the best possible outcome.
